The Heidi Fuller Fund

The Rev. Heidi Lynn Fuller (1951-1996) was a preacher, teacher, pastor, untiring disciple of Jesus Christ, and witness to God’s love for humankind. In the midst of her vital ministry, Heidi died from ovarian cancer. Family and friends established the Heidi Fuller Fund in her honor.

What grants are available?

  • Continuing Education and Vocational Development Grants: seminars, courses, retreats, support services, vocational counseling, etc., designed to enhance leadership skills of clergy, lay church leaders, and seminarians. Grants awarded average $600 per grant as funds are available.

  • Curtis grants of $1000 each are awarded to laypersons desiring training in church-related ministries.  

  • Sabbatical grants of up to $2000 each help fund clergy sabbatical programs. One awarded per year.

There is one application form in which you will indicate which grant you are applying for. Applicants may only apply for one grant during a grant cycle. See "Who is Eligible" for more.

Who is eligible?

  • Preference is given to clergy and lay leaders in good standing with a church in good standing with American Baptist Churches of Rochester/Genesee.

  • Preference is given to clergy and lay leaders in good standing with the United Church of Marion, Marion, NY (ABCNYS)

  • Any others may apply. Grants awarded based on available funds each year.

  • Continuing education and vocational development grants are limited to one per person every three years.

  • Sabbatical grants are limited to one per person every five years. Preference given to new recipients.

  • One person may not be awarded both a continuing education/vocational grant and sabbatical grant in the same cycle. Preference will be given to applicants who have not previously received any grants from this fund.

Application and Deadlines

  • Two application cycles per year. 

    • Cycle 1: Deadline June 1; notifications by August 1, checks released upon notification.​

    • Cycle 2: Deadline December 1; notifications by February 1, checks released upon notification.

    • Please plan ahead. Applications cannot be reviewed at other times of the year.

  • Please complete the application fully and accurately. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

  • Complete and submit the application online using the link below. Mailed or emailed applications cannot be considered. A PDF version of the application is available for download to use in preparing your application.

  • The PDF shows all questions; when applying online, you will only complete the questions relevant to the grant for which you are applying. The rest will become invisible.
