Rev. Dr. Sandra L. DeMott Hasenauer is Executive Minister of the American Baptist Churches of the Rochester/Genesee Region, which includes 50 congregations in the Greater Rochester Area, Western NY, and nine additional states. Prior to this, Sandy served on national denominational staff, regional staff, and as a local church pastor and interim minister. Sandy has a DMin in Transformational Leadership from Boston University School of Theology in which she studied the practical implications for an organization when truly embracing a core vision of beloved community. With such a focus, Sandy is consistently engaged in finding ways for all voices to be heard at the common table.

The Difference Between a Safety Net and a Savings Habit

If a Safety Engineer were to develop larger and larger safety nets for the same, original trampoline, “just in case,” it would raise suspicions as to how good they were at their job. Prudence or Fear? Rethinking Why We Hold Reserves
There is a definite need for net fences around the edges of trampolines in the backyard. When I was a kid, in the days before safety nets, our summer neighbors had a large rectangular trampoline that could fit upwards of eight kids on it at a time, leading to shenanigans and poor decisions. Landing flat on your back on the ground nearby and having the wind knocked out of you is not a pleasant experience. Ask me how I know.
